What's Included in Your Boat Rental Price?

Transparency matters. Before you book, you deserve to know exactly what you're paying for — and what might cost extra. Here's the complete breakdown of what's included in every Lake Day Boat Rentals reservation.

What's Always Included

The Boat

You get exclusive use of your chosen vessel for the full duration of your rental. Both the Axis A22 and Malibu Wakesetter 22 LSV are maintained to the highest standards — clean, fully operational, and ready for the water.

Safety Equipment (Required by Law)

Every rental includes the legally required safety equipment per Transport Canada regulations:

  • Life jackets (PFDs) for every passenger, in the correct sizes
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Flares (visual distress signals)
  • Throw rope (buoyant heaving line)
  • Whistle or horn
  • Navigation lights (for evening rentals)
  • Bailer or bilge pump

You don't need to bring any of this — it's all on board and inspected before every rental.

Safety Orientation

Before every rental, our team conducts a thorough safety orientation covering:

  • Engine start/stop and throttle controls
  • Steering and handling at various speeds
  • Docking and undocking procedures
  • Navigation rules on Okanagan Lake
  • Emergency procedures
  • Equipment location and use

This is not a quick five-minute walkthrough. We take the time to make sure you're genuinely comfortable before you leave the dock.

On-Water Support

During your rental, you have access to our team by phone. If you have a question, encounter a mechanical issue, or need guidance, call us. We're there.

Fuel at Departure

The boat leaves the dock with a full tank of fuel. You pay for the fuel you use, calculated after your return based on actual consumption.

What Costs Extra

Fuel

Fuel is calculated based on actual usage after your rental. The amount varies depending on how far you travel and at what speeds. We'll give you an estimate based on your planned route, but the final amount is determined at return.

Typical fuel costs:
  • 2-hour rental, moderate use: $30–$60
  • 4-hour rental, moderate use: $60–$120
  • 8-hour rental, moderate use: $100–$200

These are estimates — actual usage varies.

Taxes

GST (5%) and PST (7%) apply to your rental. These are calculated at checkout.

Security Deposit

A hold is placed on your credit card at the time of rental. This is not a charge — it's a hold that is released when the boat is returned in the same condition it left. The deposit amount is communicated at booking.

Tip

Tips are entirely optional but always appreciated by our crew. You can add a tip during the booking process or at the time of your rental.

What We Don't Provide

  • Food and beverages — bring your own (no glass containers)
  • Towels — bring your own
  • Sunscreen — bring your own (and bring plenty)
  • Water toys or equipment — we don't provide tubes, wakeboards, or other water sports equipment

The Total Cost Formula

Here's how to estimate your total:

Rental price + fuel + taxes = total cost

For example, a 4-hour morning rental of the Axis A22:

  • Rental: $599
  • Fuel (estimated): $80
  • GST + PST: ~$83
  • Estimated total: ~$762

Split among 10 people: approximately $76 per person.

No Hidden Fees

We believe in straightforward pricing. There are no booking fees, no administrative charges, and no surprises at checkout. The only variables are fuel (based on actual usage) and taxes (standard rates).
